Dear MEP,
I want to convey my support for the campaign «Segregation is not education» undertaken by the FVID in Spain, defending the rights of children with functional diversity and in compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (Functional Diversity).
Education is the basis on which to build a pluralistic society, one which respects and includes everyone. Segregating children with functional diversity in special schools is similar to create ghettos and it impairs deeply their fundamental rights. Besides, these actions go against the above said Convention. Unfortunately, there are cases occurring against children who are forced to leave ordinary schools and to enroll in special education centers, against the wishes of their parents, who live under pressure. This is very serious and cannot be accepted.
As our representative in Europe, you should ensure compliance with the Convention and the rights of children with functional diversity. I hope and trust that you will support this initiative.
Yours sincerely,
